The tamper seat is a perfect companion to any tamper up to 59mm in diameter, regardless of the base thickness or shape.  It is a place to keep the tamper clean and dry.

Back in 2004 when Paul Pratt was developing the Bumper barista tools he was initially looking for a way to safely send tampers around the world without damaging the fine finish on the bases. So he came up with the tamper seat which would not only keep the base in perfect shape on it's travels but would also double as a permanent companion to each tamper as a place to keep it.
